Intervention stabilises the EU market

Intervention operations aim to stabilises the price level of certain agricultural, horticultural and fisheries products in the EU. The means of intervention are purchases, storage, sales and support payments. Products purchased to the EU intervention stocks include skimmed milk powder, butter, barley and wheat. Support is paid to remove Baltic herring and fruits and vegetables from the market. Intervention programmes are part of the common agricultural policy of the EU and common organisation of the market in fish products.
